The structure of the power cord

The structure of the power cord mainly includes an outer sheath, an inner sheath, and a conductor. Common transmission conductors include metal wires made of copper and aluminum.
Outer sheath for power cord
The outer sheath, also known as the protective sheath, is the outermost sheath of the power cord. This outer sheath protects the power cord. The outer sheath has strong characteristics, such as high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, natural light interference resistance, good winding performance, long service life, and environmentally friendly materials.
Inner sheath for power cord
The inner sheath, also known as the insulating sheath, is an indispensable middle structural part of the power cord. The main function of the insulating sheath, as the name implies, is to insulate, to ensure the safety of the power line, so that there will be no leakage between the copper wire and the air. And the material of the insulating sheath should be soft to ensure that it can be well embedded in the middle layer.

Inner sheath for power cord

The function of the power cord

Household power cords should use BVV2×2.5 and BVV2×1.5 wires. BVV is the national standard code for copper sheathed wire. 2×2.5 and 2×1.5 represent 2-core 2.5 square millimeters and 2-core 1.5 square millimeters respectively. Under normal circumstances, 2×2.5 is used as the main line, and 2×1.5 is used as a single electrical branch line and switch line. BVV2 × 4 is used for single-phase air-conditioning dedicated line, and a dedicated ground wire is also provided.

(1) According to the requirements of SDJ161-85 in the “Technical Regulations for Power System Design” promulgated by the Ministry, the selection of the wire cross section of the DC transmission power line is carried out;
(2) “Technical Regulations for Design of 110~500kV Overhead Transmission Lines” DL/T5092-1999;
(3) “Technical Guidelines for High Voltage DC Overhead Transmission Lines” DL436-2005.
